Blog 22: Senior Project Reflection

(1) Positive Statement

What are you most proud of in your Block Presentation and/or your senior project? Why?

I am most proud of myself. Because I feel like all the research and studying I did really payed off. Before my presentation I was really nervous because I felt like I would everything. There was so much to remember I was scared I would blank out. Thankfully though as I was talking all the information came naturally to me. Therefore I didn't stutter or I wasn't repetitive. I knew my information and I was able to deliver it in a way that kept my audience engaged.

(2) Questions to Consider

a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your Block Presentation (self-assessment)?

AE       P          AP       CR       NC

I would give myself a P+. Because I felt I succeeded very well in really taking the time and putting the effort to know the information very well. Also present it in a way that was entertaining for my audience and showed my passion for my topic.

b.     What assessment would you give yourself on your overall senior project (self-assessment)?

AE       P          AP       CR       NC

I would give myself a P+ because with every component I felt like I had met the requirements and succeeded. I worked with a lot of different companies and did everything I could to gain the most knowledge so I could excel in this project.

(3) What worked for you in your senior project?
What worked for me was all the great companies I got to work with. Since they are totally different business I got to play around with different marketing campaigns and get different point of views and that was really helpful.
(4) (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would have you done differently to improve your senior project if you could go back in time?
If I could go back in time I would try to do something more than what was required. Often times I only met the requirements and I didn't really try to go above and beyond and I really regret that.
(5) Finding Value

How has the senior project been helpful to you in your future endeavors?   Be specific and use examples.

The senior project has been very helpful to my future endeavors because it has opened up so many doors for me through all the people I have met. It has also given me an advantage over other people trying to go for the same marketing position as me at a young age due to the all experience. It has also helped me prepare myself for the real world when I actually have a full time job and have to work with people 8 hours a day.

Blog 20: Exit Interview

 Content:

(1) What is your essential question and answers?  What is your best answer and why?
How can a marketing manager best increase the marketability of an idea or service to a target demographic?
  • The best way for a marketing a manager to increase the marketability is to create a competitive edge for its business so they can efficiently compete with their competitors.
  • Forming strong relationships with customer will allow a marketing manager to increase the marketability of their service or product.
  • Marketing through social media allows managers to be able to reach their target audience faster and for a cheaper price.
(2) What process did you take to arrive at this answer?

I came up with these answers through my experience of working with different companies and observing the certain strategies they chose for them.

(3) What problems did you face?  How did you resolve them?

The problems I faced were learning how to budget. Math is not one of my string assets therefore it was hard to calculate the correct amount of money a company should spend on a certain marketing plan to obtain the most profit. In order to resolve this I just turned to my mentor or any other professional that I knew could help me.

(4) What are the two most significant sources you used to answer your essential question and why?

            i. My mentor was a significant source because he gave me real world experience and knowledge in the working field. He helped me in the development of all my answers, and he always took the time to answer all my questions.
ii. Another significant source was an article called, "Guide to using Social Media for Marketing." It explained the many benefits that social media has for marketing. As well as the social media sites that are the most populated by customers. It also explained the correct way to use social media for marketing.

Blog 19: Independent Component 2

 Content:

LITERAL
(a) I, Vanessa Pacheco, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.
(b) Tijuanas Tacos in Pomona
(c) done.
(d) The boss of Tijuanas Tacos allowed me to come up with my own marketing plan to increase sales. After discussing with him, I managed to persuade him to invest in a plasma television for one lucky customer. The basic idea was to advertise this tv to encourage more poeple to come eat at our restaurant for a chance to win a television. The only condition being that anyone could participate in this raffle as long as they purchased something. At the end we got plenty of new customers coming into the restaurant to enter the raffle. We did this through the course of the two weeks that I was there. I only went during the weekends. I would put in 8 hours everyday I went.

These are a couple of pictures of the plasma television that we raffled and the complementary fruit salad we were giving away to long term customers.

This component helped me answer my EQ because it allowed me to get a first hand experience to see what really is the best way to reach my target audience. This gave me the opportunity to start putting into practive everything that I had learned from my reaserch and mentorship into practice and start developing my own startegies.

Blog 16: Advisory Meeting #2

My second answer is:
The best way for a marketing manager to increase marketability is by building relationships.

Reasons why:
1. You want to build good relationships with your customers because they have a lot of choices so you want them to choose you.  "The relationship doesn't start when money changes hands, but as early as the marketing phase. "

2. The companies that have really strived in the past are companies that have invested in ensuring their customers get the best experience. Now a days, because of social media, building relationships with customers is even more simple.

3. Building relationships with important people, not just customers opens up so many doors for your product. Not only do you get more connections, but you get more people talking about your product which works as a form of advertising that you as a manager didn't have to do anything or invest any money in really.

The sources I used that were really helpful were:
"Managing Your Customer Relationships." Marketing Donut. N.p., n.d. Web. 06 Feb. 2014.
"Sign up for Our Free Weekly E-newsletter." In Marketing, It's All About Building Relationships. N.p., n.d. Web. 06 Feb. 2014

And also my mentor contributed to this answer from first hand experience.

So in conclusion, my second answer revolves around the idea that buidling relationships with everyone not just customers helps to get your product out their in the market. It helps to have good relationships with your customers because they are then going to continue purchase your product as well as recommend it to friends and family. It's good to build relationships with other workers because they work as connections to help you advertise your product.
