November Blog Post

How is it already December?!
It feels as though just yesterday it was Thanksgiving...
Any who!
For the month of November I continued going to my mentorship with brother during the weekend.
I also was part of this giving back thing that I wanted to do as part of my independent component hours. Since for that component, I'm working with my dad and the Hispanic chamber of commerce of Pomona, what we did was a give back week.
Where we gave back to whoever was in need. It felt so good to know that I caused a difference in someone's life. It doesn't matter if it was just something small, but at least I know I made that person smile. Something's that I did were, walk all my neighbors dog, help my neighbors kids with their homework, & spend sometime with the elderly around my community. It was such a beautiful experience and I became really close with my neighbors. This is something that I plan to continue, not just for this month.
So yeah, that was basically November for me. I can't wait to see what the last month of the year has in store for me.

  b.  What is most important to securing a conviction in a criminal investigation?
No,framework and format seem off. I have to re -read it various times and i'm still not sure what it means.
  c.  What is most important in creating a hairstyle that best satisfies a customer?
Yes, it's straight forward enough to understand yet still leaves room for depth. You can tell easily tell the stance of the autor and the format makes sense.
  d.  How can an Anesthesiologist best treat chronic pain?
No, because audience may not know what Anesthesiologist is. So just change the format so it can make sense.

 3.  Based on your review of the rule of 3 and your experience with assessing four EQs, please write another draft EQ for your senior Project.

October

October blog post
Woo the month of October is through! That means is that much closer to Christmas!:D
For the month of October I continued going to my mentorship during the weekends and then I also had one event that I had to coordinate for the my independent component. It was a lot of fun although it did get pretty stressful at times.
The best part however was working with my dad. Since he is Vice President of the chamber of commerce I got to do a lot of cool stuff and work with everyone. Thankfully everyone was super nice (maybe because I'm the boss's daughter) and the event was a huge success! Basically what the event was, was a meeting for small business in Pomona to get together and kinda promote themselves. What's really awesome about that is you meet so much people that work in the places you most frequently visit so next time you go they always hook it up with discounts or free food.
Spending so much time with my dad was so awesome because he's always so busy working that it's cool to be in his shoes for a day.
And he also gave me a lot of great advice in the business world and how I should pursue my career as a marketing manager. I can't wait to see what November has I'm store for me.

Blog 7: Independent Component 1 Approval

1.  Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.
For my 30 hours I plan to organize and promote events in Pomona for small businesses with the help of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. I would have to do everything from strategizing the plan, to promoting the events.

2.  Discuss how or what you will do to meet the expectation of showing 30 hours of evidence.
Visuals of the events, Flyers, Hour logs

3.  And explain how what you will be doing will help you explore your topic in more depth.
Doing this will help me explore my topic more in depth because I would be doing the job of an actual marketing manager. I will be working with the budget, working with the people and making sure that everything runs smoothly.

Blog 5: Project Reflection and Working EQ

The Pentagon
  1. Positive Statement: As a result of completeting my summer mentorship I have gained so much first hand experience on what I plan to pursue as my career. I also have had a great mentor that has been of great help in answering questions and expanding my knowledge on what markerting consists of.
  2. EQ Content: I really found helpful an article called Marketing Manager Description. It gave in great detail the overall Outlook of the career but it also broke down different sections of the roles and duties of a marketing manager. This article not only helped answer my questions but it also informend me of alot of neat information that I wasnt aware of.
  3. What really has worked for me is that I have alot of connections to marketing managers, making information very accesible.
  4. What hasn't worked for me is the Math side of marketing. Math is not a very good subject of mine which means i'll have to work harder.
  5. My potential essential question is, What is the most succesful way to reach my target audience? For my mentorship I plan to help at alot of events by coordinating and promoting it. Thanks to my older brother one of his co workers who is a marketing manager was nice enough to be my mentor.

2.
  •  After researching I found that in order to become a marketing manager you need to have some background experience, where is a good place to start? How did you begin?
  •  What is the most challenging assignment you have faced in your career?
  • What are some tips you have found helpful to succeed and improve as a marketing manager?
  • Where do you see this business going in the future?
  • What are some useful resources I can use to begin my career?

Blog 2: Summer Mentorship Component

Blog 2: Summer Mentorship Component
  1. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AlMzNOgFPiPXdDlPLTk4UkNwX2JmeTdmNl9jTWM1RUE&usp=sharing
  2. Shawn E. Townsend; stownsend@ci.upland.ca.us; (909) 931- 4202
  3. As I was working along side my mentor some question that arose were,What skill is most important in a marketing manager? and What field is it better to go to as a marketing manager?
  4. The most important thing that I gained from this experience is that, if I would like to pursue my career as a marketing manager then it is essential to me to come out of my shell more because it is very crucial to speak to people with ease. Also I need to be a quick on the spot thinker and be very connected to my creative side. A lot of the time my mentor would ask me to come up with ideas for poster to promote the events. Therefore this experience is helping me improve my marketing management skills.
  5. Helping out at the Library and getting a glimpse of what its like to manage and coordinate an event helped me realized that this is something that I really enjoy doing and its something that I see great potential in me therefore this topic (marketing management) is something that I know I want to pursue as a possible career.

Blog 1: Senior Presentations Reflections

           Senior Presentation Reflections
  • The presentations I saw were:
  • Domestic Violence: Taryn
  • Disease Prevention: Jazmin
  • Singing Professionally: Jamilex
  • Radio Production: Alfonso
  • Voice Acting: Deanna
  •  Parks and Recreation: Isaiah
  • Solar Cup Compitetion: Jesse
  • Theatrical Performance: Daniella
  • Suicidal Youth: Marissa
  • Independent Short Films: Yesenia
  • Wedding Planning: Sydney
  • Law Enforcement: Jared
  •  Play Therapy: Demerus

  • Do i get to choose the teacher i'm presenting to?

  • I think the most important part of the senior project is being confident and passionate about the topic you choose. When youre confident and passianote about something you put twice as much work into it. Also when youre presenting you give off the vibe onto your audience making them interested in your topic.

  • I am considering doing enetertainment as a performer in Disneyland because Ive always been fascinated with the magic of Disneyland since a Young age, so getting to participate their and work alongside all these amazing proffessionals would be something very rewarding.
